2. Swift Expression blog challenge – Invisible Flame

Invisible Flame

First I was thinking of dreams being invisible, because they’re inside your mind, not really visible, only to you.

Then I went to the whole sleep paralysis / old hag thing.

Flames / lighter flames… most flames are invisible at the tip.

Also had in mind the Brand New song ‘Good man’.

Good Man

Hence the one colourful flame, and the one gold flame.

Then I suppose on a final note we have the issue of rape of men by women, which is invisible to most people. Most people aren’t aware it happens. I suppose that’s the succubus / old hag thing again.

Also, women’s sexuality – very often invisible. Women aren’t supposed to express their sexuality, hence the derogatory terms slag, slut etc for which there is no real male equivalent.

She’s pretty much smothering him, hence his funny colour. Again, murder, very often invisible. Recorded as accidental death / suicide.

Ok I’m going to stop saying ‘hence’ now.

  1. Fucking awesome. Totally brilliant. OMG, so many layers to it. Wow. Yeah you know you’re right about those words for women and I also heard something like now women are often called either “bitches” or “whores” or something like that and the bitches are the ones who won’t have sex with you and the whores are the ones who will. What the hell???????????????? The world has gone mad. Totally fucking excellent post and art.
